Who We Are
We are Western Kentucky University Chi Alpha Campus Ministries. We are part of a worldwide movement of Chi Alpha chapters on college campuses. Regardless if you have a religious background, are curious to know more about Christianity or have been in church your whole life, we welcome you to join us.
It is our student leaders that really make everything happen. We are thankful for each one!
You might be asking yourself how did we end up with the name? We didn’t come up with it at WKU, but we definitely claim it. It comes from 2 Corinthians 5:20,
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
Our purpose for existing is found in this passage. Each of us who takes on the identity of “Christian” becomes Christ’s ambassador – or christou apostoloi in Greek, which we shorten to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha” or XA. It literally means “sent ones”.
We sum it up at WKU by saying: “Once we have been reconciled to God we become Carrier’s of the Presence of God.”
Our Mission is to reconcile students to Christ and make disciples who make disciples through building community, prayer, worship, and evangelism. We live to reflect the heart of Jesus to everyone we come into contact with.
We are a Spirit-empowered, diverse community of believers at Western Kentucky University, declaring in word and lifestyle our faith in Jesus Christ, equipped to fulfill our purpose in God’s global plan.
